Read More	Orangeville Banner, September 8, 1949, page 1 HAROLD ALLEN KILLED BY LOCOMOTIVE GLEN CROSS YOUNG MAN MEETS DEATH WHILE ON CONSTRUCTION WORK Harold Allen, aged 22 years, son of Mr. Simpson Allen, Glen Cross, and the late Mrs. Allen, met death with tragic suddenness on Sunday, Sept. 4th, at Gogama, Ont., when he was struck by a train. The young man had been working for the past six months with a Canadian National Railways construction crew in this part of Ontario. No details as to the cause and circumstances of the accident have been received as yet by Mr. Allen's family. The young man was born and raised at Glen Cross and, had he lived, would have celebrated his twenty-third birthday next October 8th. He attended S. S. No. 22, Mono, and had spent most of his life in and around the Glen Cross district. Last winter he worked for the Wright's sawmill in Orangeville. He leaves to mourn his untimely death his wife, the former Ona Lucas, of Orangeville, and two small children, Rickey, aged two and a half years, and a five week baby, Judy. Besides his father there are also two brothers, Bob, Glen Cross, and Norman, Orillia, and two sisters, Mrs. Jean Roddick, Long Branch, and Evelyn, of Orillia. The funeral service will be held from the Chapel of H. P. Darraugh, on Thursday, September 8th, at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. A. A. Read, of St. James' Anglican Church, Hockley, officiating. The pallbearers will be all school chums, Don Moffitt, Burt Moffitt, Harry McKenna and Gordon Lennox, of Glen Cross, and Maurice Green and Robert Hood, of Toronto. Burial will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Orangeville.
