Foster, age 93, of rural Clarinda, Iowa, who entered into peace Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Clarinda Regional Health Center, Clarinda, Iowa were held, Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa with Pastor Russ Clark officiating. Visitation was held 12:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday, August 28 at the funeral home. Burial was in the Memory Cemetery, New Market, Iowa. Harold Burton Foster was born September 5, 1916 in Nebraska Township, Page County, Iowa and he passed away August 25, 2010 at the age of 93 years, 11 months, 10 [20]days at the Clarinda Regional Health Center, Clarinda, Iowa. Harold was the son of Fred Thomas Foster and Alta (Taylor) Foster. He attended East River New Liberty School District Number One, Page County for eight years. His eighth grade graduation was held at the Chautauqua Building in Clarinda, Iowa. In 1934, Harold graduated from New Market High School. Following graduation, Harold farmed with his Dad. In October 1939, he was united in marriage to Ruby Arlene Fuller and to this union one daughter, Judy Sue was born. Arlene passed away in June 1964. Harold was united in marriage to Julia Spencer Bedell February 18, 1967. Harold was passionate about farming and the life style it provided. He enjoyed raising pigs from farrowing to finish in the timber. He retired from farming in 1982. Harold lived all of his life in the East River Township and resided there until his death. Harold was baptized March 23, 1958 at the First Christian Church in Clarinda, Iowa. He was a fifty year Mason member of the Nodaway Lodge 140, Clarinda, Iowa. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Arlene; brother-in-law, Verlin O. Cade. Harold is survived by his "sweetheart" wife, Julia of rural Clarinda, Iowa; daughter, Judy and son-in-law, Bill McKown of Longmont, Colorado; step-daughter, Karen and husband Galen Peery of Kiron, Iowa; step son, Larry Bedell of Pennsylvania; sister, Dona Cade of Clarinda, Iowa; niece and nephew, Janet and husband Gary Bix of Westerville, Ohio and Jeff and wife Ronda Cade of Clarinda, Iowa; grandchildren, Shawn McKown of Keizer, Oregon, Jody O'Connell of Simi Valley, California, Rocki Horn of Des Moines, Iowa, Trina Wunschel of Woodward, Iowa, Tracy Bedell of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Jeff Bedell of Mineola, Iowa, Brenda Mattes of Sioux City, Iowa; twelve great grandchildren; seven great nieces and nephews and many friends. Harold thought that there was nothing more precious than life. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends, but his memory will live on in their hearts. May God grant comfort and peace to those that mourn his passing.
