Only a few days previously he and his wife had returned home to Farmington after spending the winter months in Bridgewater with relatives. Read More	Harold Chester Haines 1968 Bridgewater Bulletin There occurred on Monday,April 29, 1968, without warning, the passing of Harold Chester Haines at the age of 70 years. Only a few days previously he and his wife had returned home to Farmington after spending the winter months in Bridgewater with relatives. He was the son of the late Stephen and Alice (Langille) Haines and he lived his entire lifetime on the family homestead. Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Alice (Mrs. Leo Wagner), Farmington; and a son, Durward, who with his family reside at home; also nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and brothers, Stewart, Farmington; and Waldo, Cross Island. Mr. Haines was well known in this area and his home was always open to a wide circle of friends and relatives. Since his sudden passing expressions of sympathy have flowed into this home left saddened by the passing of one dearly loved. The funeral service was held at the New Germany United Baptist Church at Barss Corner on May 1 at 2 o'clock, the deceased being a member of this fellowship for many years. Rev. Carrol Armstrong, the pastor, officiated, assisted by Lic. Douglas Crouse, of the New Canada Baptist Church, the latter bringing the scripture and prayer. The church choir led in the singing of hymns " Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Abide With Me." The pall bearers were Douglas Hirtle, Everett Hirtle, James Simpkins, Donald Hirtle, Clinton Haines,and Leo Wagner, all relatives of the deceased. Interment was in the Community Cemetery. For the funeral the church was filled with sorrowing relatives and friends who came to pay their last respects and the beautiful floral tributes bore additional testimony of esteem.
