Levander Funeral Home of Cedar Rapids, NE is in charge of arrangements. Harold Clarence Pfeifer, the son of Fred and Irene (Nott) Pfeifer was born on July 19, 1941 at Spalding, NE. He was baptized and confirmed at the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spalding, NE. Harold attended country school until the 8th grade, and then attended high school at Spalding Academy. Harold entered the United States Navy on October 25, 1960 and was honorably discharged on May 16, 1963. On April 30, 1964 Harold re-enlisted in the Navy on board the U.S.S. Yancey for six years. He always said he traveled around the world three times. In 1967, Harold was married to Charlotte Bennett in Washington. In 1970, the couple moved to Greeley, NE and Harold worked at the elevator in Scotia, NE. In 1973 they moved to Pateros, WA where Harold worked for the Apple Packing shed and did contract cleaning. Charlotte passed away in 1997. On November 13, 1998, Harold married Veronica (Rutten) Pfeifer at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, NE. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Cedar Rapids and Harold worked 10 years in maintenance for Pillan Farms until retiring in 2009. Harold was a member of the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, NE. He enjoyed traveling, taking cruises, and especially enjoyed his trips to Alaska and Hawaii. Harold is survived by his wife Veronica of Cedar Rapids, NE; seven step-children: Paul (Joan) Pfeifer of Aurora, NE; Joe Pfeifer and friend Marcy Jorgenson of Grand Island, NE; Tammy (Roger) Boelts of Central City, NE; Angela Roller of Central City, NE; Ed (Michelle) Pfeifer of Central City, NE; Jeff (Cheryl) Pfeifer of Omak, WA; LeAnn Kiedrowski of California; 13 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Agnes Gielish of ReDondo Beach, CA; Margie Ann Hogg of Seattle, WA; Charlotte Baldwin of Lincoln, NE; two brothers: Leonard Pfeifer of Spalding, NE; Ray (Colleen) Pfeifer of Cedar Rapids, NE; his four-legged fur friend: Buddy; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Charlotte; four brothers: Robert, Paul, Charles, and Mark Pfeifer; two sisters: Veronica Ray, and JoEllen Aldrich; and one step-grandchild.
