Also surviving are two sons: Larry (Ann), Kenton, and Rob (Cheryl) Bechtel, Lima; two daughters: Michelle (Clint) Root, Delaware, OH, and Kim (Brent Joseph) Carter, Lima; two brothers: Jim (Sandy) and Gary Bechtel, both Lima; a sister, Karen (Harold) VanHorn, Elida; and nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A 1959 graduate of Lima Senior High School, he worked for Lima Engine Plant for 30 years and retired in 1998. He was in the Road Rebels Car Club and an athletic booster for Lima Senior High School working many athletic events. He loved cars and his favorite was his 1955 Ford Fairlane. He was a comical person, he enjoyed making people laugh. He was a family man and cherished his wife, loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
