Read More	Harold 'Harry' Van Leeuwen 16 September 1934 - 09 July 2016 * Van Leeuwen, Harold - Arma Harold "Harry" Van Leeuwen*, 81, of Arma, Kansas died at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Via Christi Hospital at Pittsburg, Kansas. Mr. Van Leeuwen was born September 16, 1934 at St. Paul, Kansas the son of Jacob and Bertha Jennings Van Leeuwen. Harry was a retired construction worker for List & Clark Construction. He had also worked for LaForge and Budd Construction. He was raised in St. Paul and graduated from St. Paul High School in 1951. He had been a resident of Arma for the past 57 years where he served 32 years on the Arma City and Arma Rural Fire Departments. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 where he served in Germany. He married Audrey Busse on April 4, 1959 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arma. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the St. Joseph Knights of Columbus, the International Union of Operating Engineers #101 in Kansas City, Missouri, and the Lon Helm Post #182 American Legion in Arma. Survivors include his wife Audrey of the home, two daughters, Theresa (Tom) Schmitz of Wichita and Jodi (Larry) Hadden of Shawnee, Kansas, two sons, Jeffrey (Karen) Van Leeuwen of Pittsburg and Randy Van Leeuwen of Salina, Kansas, three sisters, Sister Rosina Van Leeuwen of Wichita, Jeanette Wolken of Garnett, and Judy Fager of St. Paul, sister-in-law, Delores Van Leeuwen of Liberty, Missouri, brother-in-law, Jim (Mary) Busse of Victoria, Canada, eleven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Cleo Jacquinot, Jeanie LaForge, Jerry Hill, and Gertrude Forbes, and two brothers, Roger and Ted Van Leeuwen. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arma, Kansas with Father Floyd McKinney as the celebrant. Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. The Lon Helm Post #182 at Arma will conduct graveside flag folding services. Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma, Kansas where the family will receive friends following until 8 p.m. The family suggests memorials to the St. Ann's Altar Society or the Northeast USD #246 Foundation Association.
