Engle Shafer and was the husband of Mildred Rebecca Kinna Shafer his wife of 51 years, who he married on September 11, 1948 in Jefferson. Harold worked as an automobile mechanic his entire life. He got his first job with Reed Motor Co. while attending Middletown High School and then Model Garage for 24 years until he purchased and managed his own Exxon Station in Frederick until he retired from his business, Harold's Service Center. After retirement his love for the work brought him back, part time to work at the Myersville Sunoco. In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Donald Eugene Shafer and wife Betty Jane of Middletown, one daughter, Diane R. Shafer, Seabrook, two grandchildren, Kimberly S. Abdinoor and Amy M. Shafer both of Middletown, one great-granddaughter Lindsey Abdinoor and many nieces and nephews. Harold is also survived by one brother, Oscar L. Shafer of Middletown, one sister, Rosalyn Loughran of Stuart, Florida, two half-sisters, Judith E. Kraushaar and Candy R. Inman, both of W. Va., one half-brother, John S, Shafer of Middletown. Harold was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth L. Shafer. Funeral was held, the Rev. William M. Bucher officiated, Donna Huffer sang "A King Of Love" and " A Sheperd Is" accompanied on the church organ by Alice Tritt. Internment was made in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Middletown, Donald B. Thompson funeral directors. ---------------------------------------------- Mr. Harold Eugene Shafer, 73 of Middletown died Wednesday December 8, 1999 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Harold E. Shafer of Middletown, who died Wednesday, December 8,1999, were held Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown.
