Toopes Pherigo Sr. He married Dana Laughrige on July 7, 1970. Harold was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was born March 25, 1951 in Ottumwa to Harold F. and Violet M. Toopes Pherigo Sr. He married Dana Laughrige on July 7, 1970. He thought the world of his grandchildren. Surviving is his wife, Dana; his daughter, Heather (Ryan) Thompson of Ottumwa; 4 grandchildren, Chase Thompson, Reese Thompson, Morgan Pherigo and Ryan Pherigo; 2 great-grandchildren, Raegen and Ryleigh Pherigo; siblings, Gwen (George) Mahaffey, Rose (Robert) Smith, Gail Rupe, Don (Shirley) Pherigo and Bill (Jean) Pherigo. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anessa Pherigo; a sister, Marilyn McCoy and his parents. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home. Military services will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion at 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home followed by a time for friends to greet family until 7 p.m. Monday. Cremation will follow the visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Published on March 30, 2018
