Description	:	Harold J. Aschemeier, 87, of rural Defiance, Ohio, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 16, 1923 in Adams Township, to the late George and Freida (Panning) Aschemeier. On March 26, 1949, he married Helen A. (Rohrs) Aschemeier at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Napoleon Township. Harold was a lifelong farmer and sheep shearer at his family farm in Adams Township. Aschemeier, 87, of rural Defiance, Ohio, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 16, 1923 in Adams Township, to the late George and Freida (Panning) Aschemeier. On March 26, 1949, he married Helen A. (Rohrs) Aschemeier at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Napoleon Township. Harold was a lifelong farmer and sheep shearer at his family farm in Adams Township. He belonged to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Napoleon Township, where he was a trustee, sunday school deacon and helped clean the church with his wife for over 15 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a former member of Ward L. Adams American Legion Post 454 in Ridgeville Corners, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Helen; children, James Aschemeier of Middletown, Ind., Linda (Dennis) Benien of Napoleon, Ohio, Michael Aschemeier of Defiance, Ohio, Kenneth (Sue) Aschemeier of Wauseon, Ohio, Timothy (Brenda) Aschemeier of Defiance, Ohio, and David Aschemeier of Defiance, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Hildegard Cordes of Napoleon, and Clara (Byrl) Short of Boston, N.H. He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Aschemeier; and sister, Regina Von Deylen. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Napoleon Township, with Pastor Franklin Hays officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded by Ridgeville American Legion Post.
