Description	:	Harold Jamison Merrill, 89, of Rising Sun, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. He was born July 11, 1921, in Switzerland County, the son of Albert Dean and Anna Jamison Merrill. He was raised in Switzerland County and was a 1939 graduate of Vevay High School. He served in the Navy from Aug. 31, 1942 to Nov. 12, 1945, with Bombing Squadron 142 and as a a navigator and bombardier. Read More	Harold Jamison Merrill, 89, of Rising Sun, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. He was born July 11, 1921, in Switzerland County, the son of Albert Dean and Anna Jamison Merrill. He was raised in Switzerland County and was a 1939 graduate of Vevay High School. He served in the Navy from Aug. 31, 1942 to Nov. 12, 1945, with Bombing Squadron 142 and as a a navigator and bombardier. He rose to the rank of Aviation Machinist's Mate First Class during World War II. He received the Air Medal, the Air Crew Insignia and the Good Conduct Medal among other honors. He resided in North Vernon from 1957 to 2000, when he and his wife moved to Rising Sun to be near their daughter. He was employed as a tool and die maker for the Ford Plant (ITT) in North Vernon, retiring in 1986, after 26 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Muscatatuck Country Club in North Vernon. He was a golf enthusiast and enjoyed golfing with his buddies and especially his daughter. He also enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, the Cincinnati Reds and his dogs. He is survived by his wife Margaret "Pud" Merrill, whom he married Feb. 15, 1944; one daughter, Pam A. Merrill of Rising Sun; one grandson; and one cousin. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Agnes Merrill, who died Aug. 29, 1986. The funeral was at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial was in Vevay Cemetery. Military honors were conducted graveside by the Vevay Post 185 of the American Legion and the Vevay Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5396. Madison Courier 11/15/10
