Description	:	Margaret Dyer "Pud" Pickett Merrill, 90, of Rising Sun, died Monday, May 30, 2011, at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. She was born Nov. 3, 1920, in Vevay, the daughter of William Sr. and Margaret Clendenning Pickett. She was raised in Vevay and was a 1938 graduate of Vevay High School. She received a degree in nursing in 1941 from the Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati, Ohio. During World War II, she was employed at Crosley's in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she helped manufacture gun sights. Read More	Margaret Dyer "Pud" Pickett Merrill, 90, of Rising Sun, died Monday, May 30, 2011, at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. She was born Nov. 3, 1920, in Vevay, the daughter of William Sr. and Margaret Clendenning Pickett. She was raised in Vevay and was a 1938 graduate of Vevay High School. She received a degree in nursing in 1941 from the Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati, Ohio. During World War II, she was employed at Crosley's in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she helped manufacture gun sights. She began her employment as a registered nurse for the Jefferson Proving Ground infirmary in Madison. She was a former industrial nurse at the Ford plant in North Vernon and was a public health nurse for Jennings County for several years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in North Vernon and of Kappa Kappa Kappa sorority in Vevay. She and her husband lived in North Vernon from 1957 to 2000, when they built a home along the Ohio River in Rising Sun to be near their daughter. She enjoyed music, tennis, gardening, traveling, Indiana University basketball, Cincinnati Reds baseball and playing the piano. She is survived by one daughter, Pam Merrill of Rising Sun, and one grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Harold Jamison Merrill, whom she married Feb. 15, 1944, and who died Nov. 13, 2010; her parents; two brothers, Dr. William Pickett and Russell Pickett; and three sisters, Wilma Benedict, Lola "Lody" Pickett and Lorraine "Rainey" Pickett. The funeral was at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial was in Vevay Cemetery. Madison Courier 6/1/11
