Description	:	BROWN, HARRIET—Harriet Wood Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. U. Wood, was born June 16, 1888, near Ohiowa, in Fillmore county, Nebraska. She died at Bryan Memorial hospital, Lincoln, Neb., Saturday, July 11, 1942, aged 54 years and 25 days. Read More	BROWN, HARRIET—Harriet Wood Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. U. Wood, was born June 16, 1888, near Ohiowa, in Fillmore county, Nebraska. She died at Bryan Memorial hospital, Lincoln, Neb., Saturday, July 11, 1942, aged 54 years and 25 days. Death came suddenly following a surgical operation, from which she apparently making a good recovery. Her childhood was spent on a farm near Ohiowa. She lived in Fillmore and Thayer counties all her life. February 8, 1915, she was married to Ross Brown at Hebron, Neb. To this union were born three children, Rex of Geneva, Neb., Max of Hastings, Neb., and Betty of Geneva, Neb. While a young girl, Mrs. Brown became a member of the Methodist church and continued all her life as a member of that church. She had an active part in the work of First Methodist church, Geneva, of which she was last a member. She was also active in women's project club work in Fillmore county. Mrs. Brown had many noble qualities that greatly endeared her to her family and friends. No sacrifice was too great for her to make to benefit others. She was an efficient homemaker, and her ability was used to large extent in church and club work. Her untimely death creates a great void in the home and in her large circle of friends. She is survived by her husband, all three children, two brothers, O. J. Wood of Fairmont, Neb., and B. J. Wood of Kansas City, Mo., and many other relatives and friends. The funeral took place Monday afternoon, July 13, at 3 o'clock from First Methodist church, Geneva. Rev. David Tudor, a former Geneva pastor now at Aurora, was in charge of the service. E. R. Montgomery sang. Mrs. F. M. Holtz was the organist. Pall bearers were Harry Theobald, Lyman Brooke, Will Watmore, H. B. Simon, A. H. Fulton and Oscar Peterson. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. Among those attending the funeral from out of town were Mrs. B. J. Wood of Kansas City, Charles Hranac of Omaha, F. R. Johnston and Jane of Douglas, Mrs. Anna Appley and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Brown of Hebron, and a number of relatives and friends from Ohiowa and Tobias. The Nebraska Signal July 16, 1942 page 7.
