Orpha was the daughter of Charles J. and Harriett Warner. BROWN, ROSS—Ross Brown was born on September 14, 1884, at Lexington, McLean county, Ill., to George Allen and Tacy Elizabeth Palmer Brown. He passed away on January 12, 1977, at the Long Term Care Center at Cambridge, Neb., having reached the age of 92 years, 3 months, 28 days. Ross came to Saline county, Neb., with his parents at the age of four months. When he was 18 years old, they moved close to Ohiowa in Fillmore county. He attended Ohiowa high school and Lincoln Business College. On February 8, 1915, he was married to Harriet J. Wood, the daughter of Ida and L. U. Wood. They lived on farms in Thayer and Fillmore counties until 1929, and then moved to a farm east of Geneva until 1939. Retired from farming, he held jobs during the ensuing years with the county road department, Koehler’s Hatchery, McPeck Produce and the Geneva Police Department, retiring in 1958. He continued to make his home in Geneva until January, 1973, when he moved to Heritage Plaza in Cambridge, Neb., to be near his daughter. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Harriet in July 1942, and by two sons, Rex Wendell, who died in December, 1960, and Max Lowell, in March 1950. On June 23, 1952, he was married to Orpha L. Kelch and she preceded him in death in May 1970. He is survived by one daughter, Betty R. Lockenour of Cambridge, Neb; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild, three step-sons, Clarence, Wilbur and Lewis Kelch of Geneva. Ross was a member of the Geneva Methodist church, and I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 65. Funeral services were held at the Farmer & Son funeral home, Geneva, at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 1977, with the Rev. H. Paul Smith officiating. Burial was in the Geneva cemetery.
