Read More	Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, November 13, 1941 FUNERAL HELD FOR PIONEER RESIDENT Mrs. Harriet Jane Young Died at Home of Daughter in Holyoke Funeral services were conducted in Holyoke Monday afternoon for Mrs. Harriet Jane Young, 87, a pioneer resident of the Holyoke community, who died Friday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry A. Peach. Death followed an illness of massive ascites due to portal thrombosis, with which she had suffered the past two and one-half months. Service was held at the First Baptist church with the pastor, Rev. Dayton P. Muxlow, officiating. A quartet composed of Mesdames Gerald P. McFadden, R.N. White, J. Harold Ellis and F.B. Flanagan, sang "The Old Rugged Cross," and Mrs. Gerald P. McFadden sang as a solo "Face to Face," with Mrs. G.L. Blincow playing the accompaniments. Misses Ruth Ann Clayton and Charlene Critchlow sang "Haven of Rest" with Miss Thelma Clayton of Greeley playing the accompaniment. Burial was made in the Holyoke Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were S.S. Worley and H.C. Clark. The active pallbearers were O.H. Helland, L.H. Clayton, Floyd Waln, W.L. Huey, Walter Clark and B.A. Stephenson. Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the funeral were C.J. Young, Mrs. W.J. Sleeter, Mrs. Minnie Fanger and Mrs. Agnes Shrum and son, David, of Denver, Miss Gwendolyn Young of Greeley, and Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Grahan, Mr. and Mrs. W.K. Peters, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Peters, and Mesdames Sanders, Coats, Geron, Edwards, Fisher, Outcault and Frame, all of Sterling. Harriet Jane Cronk, daughter of Walter and Margaret Cronk, was born December 15, 1854, near Detroit, Michigan. She was married to James W. Young at Napanec, Ontario, Canada, October 16, 1872. Their early life was spent in Minnesota and Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. Young came to Colorado September 10, 1887, arriving in Julesburg as the railroad had not as yet been completed to Holyoke. At that time, the lots in Holyoke had not been sold. They settled on a homestead 12 miles north of Holyoke, later moving to Holyoke, where Mr. Young died May 12, 1910. Mrs. Young had been a resident of the Holyoke vicinity the past 54 years. Survivors are two sons, Cameron J. Young of Denver and Walter S. Young of St. Paul, Minnesota; two daughters, Mrs. J.E. Graham of Sterling and Mrs. Harry A. Peach of Holyoke; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Rumble of Napa, California; 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by seven children. The late Mrs. Young had been a member of the First Baptist church of Holyoke the past 50 years. She was a charter member of the Sorosis Club and was an active member of the Pythian Sisters organization. CARD OF THANKS We wish to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the friends and neighbors for the many acts of kindness and sympathy extended us during the illness and at the time of the death of our beloved mother. To the pallbearers, First Baptist church, Rev. Dayton P. Muxlow, the singers, pianists, Order of the Eastern Star chapter, A.F. & A.M. lodge, R.N.A. lodge and to those who gave flowers as a tribute to her memory, we express our special thanks. - Mr. and Mrs. Harry A.
