She was preceded in death by her parents, and two grandchildren, Olivia and Jarad Moore. Harriet Jane Kaelberer was the eldest of four children to John and Esther Kaelberer. She was baptized on December 19, 1937 at Zion Lutheran Church, New Salem. She attended Elementary and High School in New Salem, North Dakota. Harriet married the love of her life, Herbert Henke, on June 3, 1957 in New Salem. They were blessed with over 60 years of marriage and four children. Harriet was a farm wife for many years, and once the children were older, she went to work at the Oliver County Soil Conservation District where she spent 35 years, retiring in 2011. Harriet taught piano lessons for decades to many area students, planted and harvested a large garden every year, and truly enjoyed every minute spent with the Hannover Farmerettes Homemakers Club. Harriet was an active member in the St. Peter church family where she had an unwavering love and belief in her Savior; she participated in LWML, choir, and handbells for many years. Harriet loved a game of cards, her favorites being pinochle or bridge. Other past-times included plastic canvas, puzzles, word games, or a trip to the casino to play the penny machines. Most of all, Harriet treasured time with the family; one of her true joys was attending any activity the children or grandchildren were involved in including basketball, football, volleyball, piano recitals, and music concerts. She had dozens of board games in her home ready for any grandchild that wanted to play.
