Description	:	Services for Harriet Schornack, 86, of Aberdeen and formerly of Groton, have been re-scheduled for 10:00 am, Saturday, February 28th at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Groton. Rev. Craig Grams will officiate. Burial will follow in Groton Union Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. Visitation will be held at the chapel from 4-8pm on Friday with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue prior to services at the church on Saturday. Harriet passed away February, 23, 2009 at Manor Care Health Services of Aberdeen. Harriet was born at Pierpont, SD on July 4, 1922 to Herman and Emma Paulson and grew up on the family farm. She was baptized and confirmed at Skudesnes Lutheran Church in rural Pierpont. She graduated from Pierpont High School in 1940. On January 29, 1943 she and Howard W. Schornack of Groton eloped to Chester, SD and were married by Howard’s uncle, Rev. Paul Schornack. Together they lived on Howard’s family farm where they raised their three daughters. Harriet and her three sisters loved spending time together and enjoyed a trip to Norway, where they visited relatives. They also traveled to Branson, Missouri. After retiring from active farming, she and Howard spent 20 years as snowbirds in Pharr, Texas. Howard passed away on February 8, 2003 and in the fall of 2003 Harriet moved to the Primrose Apartments in Aberdeen, later moving to Primrose Cottages and Manor Care in November of 2008. Grateful for having shared her life are her three daughters, Diane (Randy) Swenson and Peggy (Galen) Lahammer, both of Aberdeen, and Patti Joslin of Northglenn, Colorado, eleven grandchildren, Jennifer (Joel) Schneider, Jason Neiger, Laura (Andy) Vostad, Cody Swenson, Scott Lahammer, Jodie (Justin) Sample, Brianna Lahammer, Brittany (Tom) Cardenas, Jr., Zachary, Alexzandra, and Dakotah Joslin, and ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Judy Nelson of Sioux Falls, Mavis Satter of Watertown and Helen (Jeff) Jasper of Minneapolis. Preceding Harriet in death were her parents, her husband of 60 years, and two brothers, Art and Cliff. Honorary Casketbearers will be all of Harriet’s friends. Casketbearers will be her grandsons, Joel Schneider, Jason Neiger, Andy Vostad, Cody Swenson, Scott Lahammer, Justin Sample, Zachary Joslin and Tom Cardenas, Jr.
