Description	:	Howard Schornack, 87, of Groton died February 8th at Beverly Healthcare Center, Groton. Services are 2:00 pm on February 13th at St. John's Lutheran, Groton. Rev. Craig Grams will officiate. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery under the direction of Paetznich-Garness Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel from 2-8pm on Wednesday with a prayer service at 7:00pm. Visitation at the church will be one hour prior to service. Howard William was born on October 20, 1915 on the family farm in Groton to George and Olga (Senne) Schornack. He was baptized on November 7, 1915 and confirmed on March 30, 1930 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Groton. Howard attended and graduated from Groton High School in 1934. Following school he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and was stationed in Belvidere, SD for a few years. He returned to the family farm and farmed until retiring in 1980. He married Harriet Paulson on January 29, 1943 in Chester, SD. The ceremony was performed by his uncle Rev. Paul Schornack. After retiring from active farming, they remained on the family farm, spending 20 winters in Phar, Texas. Howard served as Service Director of the Groton Farmers Elevator for 18 years. He was president of AAL Branch 2493 of St. John's Lutheran Church for may years. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 60 years, Harriet, Three daughter; Diane (Randy) Swenson of Aberdeen, Peggy (Galen) Lahammer of Aberdeen, Patti Joslin of Northglenn, Colorado, eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, two brothers; Jarold Schornack of Essexville, Michigan, Don (Marilyn) Sschornack of Des Moines, Iowa, and one sister, Doris Craig of Aberdeen. Preceding him in death were his parents. Honorary casketbearers will be all of Howard's friends. Casketbearers will be his grandsons; Scott Lahammer, Justin Sample, Jason Neiger, Joel Schneider, Andy Volstad, Cody Swenson, Zachary Joslin, and Tom Cardenas, Jr.
