Harriet married first on 15 March 1864 in Iowa to a Civil War veteran,* Aaron L. Plum 1841-1909; they had 5 children: James, John, Albert, Gilman, & Amanda Minnie. By 1880 they were divorced and Harriet was supporting herself and her five young children by working as a washerwoman in Marshalltown, Iowa. In the 1900 census, she is a washerwoman in Council Bluffs, Iowa. By 1902 (city directory), she is back in Marshalltown, a housekeeper at 112 N 9th. Several houses away lived widower Albert G. Clark, a well digger, and his deaf & dumb son Sherman Everett Clark. Albert & Harriet married 11 November 1902, the second marriage for each. Harriet died just one year later and was buried in the same lot as Albert's first wife, Mary A.E. Bash Clark, in Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown, Iowa. Albert joined them ten years later, in 1913. No headstones mark Harriet's or Albert's graves. In 1918, Albert & Mary's youngest son Leroy Clark joined them, felled by the Spanish Influenza pandemic, but no headstone marks his grave. Harriet's first husband, Aaron Lee Plum 1841-1909, a carpenter, remarried 16 May 1881 to Frances L. Haskins 1859-1927; 5 children---giving him 10 children by his two wives: James M Plum 1865–1933 John C Plum 1867–1948 Albert Elmer Plum 1871–1955 Gilman F Plum 1874–1908 Amanda Minnie Plum 1876– Effie May Plum 1881–1927 Martha "Mattie" Lee Plum 1882–1954 Robert Lawrence Plum 1884–1954 Harry Lorenze Plum 1888–1915 killed by a Milwaukee train Bertha Plum 1892–1950 *At age 21, Aaron enlisted 22 August 1862 in Company K, 22nd Iowa Infantry; mustered out 16 August 1863 at St. Louis, Missouri. His parents were John Lee Plum & Nancy Fitzgerald.
