Stockport, Ia., Dec. 16.—Mrs. Harriett Morris, wife of Alexander Morris, of Stockport, died at her home Tuesday morning at 6 o'clock. Mrs. Morris had been in failing health for a number of years and had been confined to her home for some time. Mrs. Morris was one of the pioneer settlers in Van Buren county, coming with her parents, James and Eliza Ebert, from Pennsylvania in 1851, and settling near what is now Uttica. In 1852 her parents moved to the present family home near Stockport and It was here that she passed away, shortly after celebrating her 69th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Morris was born in Fayette county. Pa., November 12. 1839, and was married to Mr. Alexander Morns on November 12, 1857, In the same house In which she passed away, and wliich has been their family home ever since. She is survived by her husband, Alexander Morris, 93 years of age, and the following children: Rebecca Elizabeth Morris. Stockport; Ellen Jane Spencer. Oakland, Cal.; Belle Collier Taylor. Merna, Neb.; Asbury Dorsey Morris, Stockport; Margaret A. Morris. Springfield, Ore.; Emma Spencer, Stockport; Winfield L. Morris. Stockport; Mary Eliza Knowles, Oakland, Cal. Mrs. Morris was loved and respected by the entire community, the home near Stockport being one of the early landmarks in the county. Neighbors were continually dropping in to pay their respects to this aged couple and the news of Mrs. Morris' death cast a shadow over the entire neighborhood. Funeral services were held from the home at 11 o'clock this morning, the entire community being present to pay their last respects to this woman,, who by her sterling character and Christian example had gained the love of everyone who knew her.
