Tipton Tribune, Nov. 8, 1926 Mrs. Elizabeth Chappell Sharp, 87 years of age on the 13th of last August, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Coleman, on North East street, Sunday evening at 5:30 o'clock and with her passing the community loses one of its best beloved women. Mrs. Sharp had been very critically ill for several day and her condition was such that death was expected. She became ill with a heavy cold and pneumonia complications developed. She was frail and feeble and the illness was too much for her constitution. Grandma Sharp was well known to almost everybody in the county and was a splendid woman of the pioneer type. Her maiden name was Harriett Elizabeth Stewart, she being a daughter of Alexandria and Eunice Stewart. Mrs. Sharp was one of eight children born to this couple, all now being deceased with the exception of one sister, Mrs. Miser of Diamond Springs, Kansas. Mrs. Sharp was united in marriage to John Chappell in 1856 and to this union three children were born. Mrs. Matilda Sharp, deceased; Marion and Calvin Chappell. In 1864, John Chappell died and after remaining a widow for eight years the deceased was united in marriage to James Sharp, their occurring in 1873. To the second union three children were also born Charles, who died in infancy and Mrs. Addie Levitt, widow of Thomas Levitt and Mrs. Ida Coleman, wife of Joseph Coleman, of North East street, with whom Grandma Sharp has been making her home. In addition to the sister and children mentioned, Grandma Sharp is survived by fifteen grandchildren. Her second husband, James, has been dead for several years.
