Davies and burial was in the Ida Grove Cemetery, Ida County, Iowa. Ella Carver was born Sept. 5, 1861 at Florence, Switzerland County, Indiana, and attained the age of 60 years 7 months and 26 days. Her parents were Christopher and Hannah Carver, and came of New England ancestry, the father being a direct descendant of John Carver of the Mayflower Company. Her Grandparents came with Daniel Boone over his trail from Virginia into Kentucky and ultimately crossed the Ohio river into Switzerland County, which borders on that noble stream. She grew up in Indiana, and was married to Silas W. Ford June 8, 1880, at Florence. They went on a farm in that locality 3 years, then moved to McLean County, Illinois. in 1883. They settled on a farm of their own in Calhoun County, Iowa, near Manson in 1900. Two years later they sold it and went upon another farm they had bought in Hancock County. Here they resided until Feb. 1920 when they retired and moved to Ida Grove, Iowa. Mrs. Ford joined the Baptist Church at Rockwell City, Iowa, in 1903 and later transferred to the M.E. church of Kanawha, Iowa. She is survived by her husband, one sister, Mrs. Emma Schmied, of Mt. Healthy, Ohio; two children, Otto E. Ford of Gregory, S.D., and Mrs. Emma Ford Hewitt of Hayes Township. Another child died in infancy and Mrs. Ines Nelson, a daughter, preceded her mother on Jan. 31, 1919. There are eight grandchildren. Mrs. Ford was a genuine, old fashioned mother, whose tastes and habits were simple, devoted to her family, and her church.
