Harriett Ellen Philliber was born February 22, 1862, in Monroe County, Missouri and moved to Shelby County when a child. She was married June 10, 1877, to Joseph Henry Howerton. Harriett Ellen Philliber was born February 22, 1862, in Monroe County, Missouri and moved to Shelby County when a child. She was married June 10, 1877, to Joseph Henry Howerton. To this union were born nine children, six of whom are still living - three boys and three girls, Mrs. Maggie Robinson, of Leonard, Missouri, Mrs. Effie Winget, Will, Roy, Pearl and Lulu Howerton of Neosho, Misssouri. She died January 11, 1910, of that dreadful disease, heart trouble at the age of 47 years, 10 months 19 days. She leaves to mourn her death besides her husband and six children, three sisters three brothers, nine grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. She gave her heart to Jesus at the age of 14 and lived a constant christian; was a devoted wife and mother until death. She was loved by all who knew her. She was always willing and had a helping hand for everybody. Funeral services were conducted at her home by her pastor Rev. Hunley of the Christian church. The remains were sent back to her old home in Shelby County for burial in the King graveyard. She has gone but not forgotten, Never will her memory fade; Sweetest thoughts will ever linger Round the grave where she was laid. We miss her, oh we miss her; We miss her everywhere.
