Description	:	Mrs. Harriet Frances Sparks, 91, died at the Newman Memorial County hospital Sunday morning at 2:45 o'clock. She had lived with her daughter, Mrs. E.E. Jones, 1728 East Sixth. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the Roberts-Blue Funeral home with the Rev. J.C. Brogan, pastor of the Grace Methodist church, in charge. Burial will be in Reading cemetery. Mrs. Sparks was born in Roseville, Ohio, May 2, 1854, a daughter of the late Mr.and Mrs. Alvah Oliver Morgan. She married the late Granville Moody Sparks, who had been a private in Company B of the 60th regiment of the Ohio infantry in the Civil War, in Nashville, Ohio, November 8, 1871. In 1889, Mrs. Sparks came to Lyon county and in 1908 to Emporia. She was a member of the Reading Methodist church and an honorary member of Tent No. 11 of the Daughters of Union Volunteers. Mr. Sparks died in Emporia in September, 1920. Mrs. Sparks is survived by a son, A.O. Sparks, 927 Lakeview; and three daughters, Mrs. Olivia M. Milam, Monterey Park, Calif.; Mrs. E.E. Jones, 1728 East Sixth; Mrs. I.E. Benson, 1101 Congress; four granddaughters; four grandsons and 14 great grandchildren. Two daughters ad three sons precede her in death. Emporia Gazette, Wednesday, February 27, 1946; p.3, c.3 Funeral for Mrs. Sparks Funeral services for Mrs. Harriet Sparks , who lived with her sister [daughter], Mrs. E.E. Jones, 1728 East Sixth, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Roberts-Blue Funeral home. The Rev. J.C. Brogan, pastor of the Grace Methodist church conducted the services. Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Gile sang, accompanied by Mrs. Glenn A. Blue. Pallbearers were four grandsons, Gerald Jones, Gene Taylor, Howard Benson and Ivan Benson. Burial was in the Reading cemetery. Those from out of town at the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Ivan B. Benson, Gardner; and Eugene E. Taylor, Kansas City.
