Brother, look up above the stars to Him "who will never, no never forsake." The Monroe Journal Monroe, NC Tuesday, December 28, 1915 Page 1 ---------- Mrs. Harriet Jane Haywood, wife of Rev. A. B. Haywood, died in the hospital in Charlotte on the morning of Dec. 25, about 9 o'clock. She was about sixty-three years old, and had been in rather ill health for almost a score of years. But with the strong resolution she possessed, she bore the pain with little murmuring up to the very morning of her death. About a week prior to the time of her death, she became suddenly worse and was then removed to the hospital. During her stay at the hospital she did not improve any. On Friday evening before her death, Mr. Haywood received a message from the hospital, stating that his wife was in a very serious condition and for him to come, with all friends and relatives wishing to see her alive, at once. Mr. Haywood, with others, went at once. When they arrived they found Mrs. Haywood in a very serious condition. She remained conscious during the night, but as morning drew near, she became unconscious and in a few moments her brave soul passed into realms beyond to receive its reward. When the death angel called he found her watching and ready to put out to sea, confident of her pilot and all un-afraid. Mrs. Haywood was a member of the church for forty-three years. She will be greatly missed for she had a wide circle of friends. Surviving Mrs. Haywood are her husband and one sister, the latter being in Alabama. The body was brought home Christmas day. The funeral service was held in the Methodist church by Rev. M. H. Vestal Sunday morning at 11 o'clock.
