Fuller Dies at Waterloo Home Laurens County's First Rural Letter Carrier Succumbs at Age of 85 Funeral Services Sunday Afternoon H. Calvin Fuller, retired mail carrier and highly esteemed citizen of Waterloo, died at his home there Saturday night following a long period of declining health. He would have been 86 years old on June 10. A native of Waterloo, Mr. Fuller was born June 10, 1852, son of the late Solomon Tillman Fuller and Mary Ann Babb and had lived in the Waterloo community all of his life. Funeral services were conducted from the Waterloo Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock by his pastor, the Rev. J. H. Byrd, assisted by the Rev. Jodie A. Martin and the Rev. D. W. Keller. Interment followed in the Waterloo Cemetery. Mr. Fuller was the first rural letter carrier in Laurens Co., having been appointed from the Waterloo Post Office in 1900. He had a tri-weekly service to begin with a salary of #32.00 a month. Because of disability resulting from injuries suffered in a run-away accident, he was retired from the service in 1920 after a service of 29 years and one month. During his long life of service to the community, he made a host of friends who will be grieved to learn of his passing. He was a consistent member of the Waterloo Baptist Church, and for a number of years he served as a deacon. He was a member of the Masonic Order, and for many years was a trustee of the public schools. Mr. Fuller is survived by his third wife, Mrs. Eula Wharton Fuller, a daughter of the late Colonel John H. Wharton. of this union three daughters and three sons survive, Mrs. W. G. Wallace of Gray Court, Mrs. Furman Reagin of Newberry, Miss Genevieve Fuller of Waterloo, J. Wharton Fuller and H. C. Fuller of Charlotte, NC, and Edwin Fuller of Waterloo. His first marriage to Miss Susan Elizabeth Fuller of which two daughters survive, Mrs. J. Preston Smith of Waterloo and Mrs. J. N. Sims of Central. Miss Ida Gilmore Fooshe was the second wife and of this marriage one daughter Mrs. W. F. Geer of Augusta, Ga., survives. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. W. H. Wharton of Waterloo and nine grandchildren. The following friends served as pallbearers: Rufus Walker, N. C. Clark, J. H. Parnell, J. B. Henderson, W. Y. McNeill, and John C. Smith. The honorary escort was composed of the following deacons of the Baptist church: J. H. Coleman, I. P. Moore, S. L. Moore, W. C. Wharton, T. S. Boyd, and G. C. Turner, E. V. Golding, E. B. Robinson, J. H. Wharton, Rex Lanford, J. E. Johnson, J. C. Sims, and Guy Smith.
