Description	:	Harry Reynolds, lacking one day of 30 years of age, died Sunday afternoon at 6:00 o'clock in the University hospital in Iowa City, following an emergency operation to allay peritonitis development, which had become imminent. He was taken to Iowa City the preceding Monday night where an operation was performed to remove the appendix and examination showed that a gangrenous condition was present. Following the operation, favorable reports were received here, but later in the week his condition became worse until the second operation was found necessary. Learning Sunday afternoon about 2:00 o'clock that his hours were numbered, he called his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Reynolds, and his wife to his bedside. With a smile he greeted them and told them that he had not long to live. The dying boy offered prayer, closing with "It's all right. Thy will be done. I'm ready to go." Requesting that his father, with whom he was associated in the funeral and undertaking business here, remain in the room, Harry made arrangements for the funeral, even to the minutest detail. Harry, one of the most popular young businessmen in Sigourney, was born in 1902. With his parents changing their address to Brighton and later to Ollie, he received his early education in the schools of the latter two towns. He moved to Sigourney with Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds in 1917 and enrolled as a sophomore in the local high school, from which he was graduated in the class of 1920. During his high school days, he was one of the outstanding football players in the school. Following graduation he attended Coe College, in Cedar Rapids and later attended the Worsham School of embalming in Chicago, Illinois. Upon graduation he became associated with his father in business here. A youth of great deal of ability, he displayed this when, at the age of 22 years, he conducted the business during the several weeks when his father was ill. In 1927, Harry became the active manager of the local firm, and in September 1931, the H. R. Boldiser furniture and undertaking firm in Delta was purchased by the local men. He was Keokuk County's coroner the last four years and was a candidate for re-election this November. He was married to Miss Mildred Sturdevant of Delta, in 1925, and in 1929, they became the parents of Miriam Ruth. A lover of music and possessing much musical ability, Harry became a member of the Sigourney men's chorus during 1925 and the group met weekly in the local undertaking parlor for practices. He was also a member of the male quartet of the Church of Christ. Harry was a member of various civic and fraternal organizations, including the Masonic lodge, Odd Fellows lodge, Knights of Pythias and Eastern Star organizations, the local Lions club and Sigourney Retail Merchant's association. When the Troop E, 113th cavalry held its headquarters here, Harry enlisted in this group. A natural leader among the boys of the town he quickly arose through the ranks to second lieutenant, first lieutenant and finally to troop commander. The funeral service for the local boy was held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Church of Christ. It was conducted by the Rev. R. B. Hyten of Cedar Rapids, former pastor of the local church and the Rev. C. E. Clark, present pastor. Burial was made in West cemetery. The funeral was one of the largest ever held in Sigourney.
