Description	:	Harry Duckett, 90, of West College Corner, died Wednesday October 15, 2008 at McCullough-Hyde Hospital in Oxford. He was born November 18, 1917 in College Corner, OH to John M. and Hilda L. Bateman Duckett. Harry was the valedictorian of his graduating class at Union High School. He married the former Freda L. Kehr in 1946 after his return from WW II. After the war,... Read More	Harry Duckett, 90, of West College Corner, died Wednesday October 15, 2008 at McCullough-Hyde Hospital in Oxford. He was born November 18, 1917 in College Corner, OH to John M. and Hilda L. Bateman Duckett. Harry was the valedictorian of his graduating class at Union High School. He married the former Freda L. Kehr in 1946 after his return from WW II. After joining the US Army Air Corps in 1941, Harry was stationed in India and China, where he earned several commendations serving with the Flying Tigers until the end of World War II. After the war, he managed Ruehlman's Grocery in College Corner until 1970, when he went to work at Ruehlman's in Oxford. After working at Oxford Hardware and True Value Hardware stores, he retired at the age of 79. Harry loved talking to people at work, and listening to or watching Cincinnati Reds games. He was a member of the College Corner United Methodist Church. Survivors include his children: Michael Duckett and his wife Mary of Boca Raton, FL; Marge Withrow and her husband Ray of Fairfield, OH; a sister: Barbara Craycraft and her husband Ray of Middletown, OH; a sister-in-law: Elnora Kehr of College Corner; two grandchildren: Michelle Elaine Duckett of Indianapolis; Tymothie Elizabeth Duckett of Bloomington; several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his wife; parents; a brother: Ralph Duckett; two sisters: Arizona Florer; Mary Owens. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday October 20, 2008 at College Corner Cemetery with Reverend Mick Miller of College Corner United Methodist Church officiating. The American Legion Post #122 and VFW Post #1472 will conduct military graveside services. Friends may visit at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, in College Corner on Sunday from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. where memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or College Corner United Methodist Church.
