Dodson, 75, a former resident here, who died very suddenly at his home in Washington Iowa, Sunday evening, were held from the Methodist church here at 2 o'clock this afternoon, Thursday, with the Rev. Fred Miller of Washington in charge. Pallbearers were M. W. Kelso, Lloyd Watson, Chas. T. Eden, G. E. Mathews, Wm P. Ashton and Frank Sherburne. Dodson, 75, resident of Washington since 1935, died very suddenly at his home there at 5:15 o'clock Sunday afternoon. While not in good health for the past three years, death came unexpectedly as the result of a heart attack. Mr. Dodson was born April 5, 1868 at Elsa, in Jersey county, Ill., where he was reared and educated. He was the son of John W. and Parthena Gillham Dodson. As a young man he went to Kansas where he married Addie Morrison at Burden in that state March 10, 1889. After their marriage they returned to Jersey county, Illinois and farmed there until they moved to Lone Tree in 1907. Eight years ago they moved to the Washington community where they continued to farm until Mr. Dodson's failing health forced them to move to the present home in Washington in November 1942. He is survived by his wife; two sons Fred of Buffalo, Wyoming, and Eslie of Lone Tree; two daughter, Mrs. Dayton Eden of Columbus Junction and Mrs. William Bell of Washington; and five grandchildren.
