Read More	THE IMPERIAL REPUBLICAN, Imperial, Nebraska Harry Edgar McLain, oldest son of Rosa and Harry McLain, was born December 7, 1898, at Imperial, and departed this life at the age of 66 years, six months and 21 days, at St. Joseph Hospital in Cheyenne Wells, Colo. Ed, as he was commonly known, moved with his parents to the Blanche Community northeast of Imperial, where he spent his boyhood days. Most of his life was spent in Chase County and on the homeplace until the family moved to Imperial in 1939. He was united in marriage to Mary Ethel Troxel of Wauneta, September 15, 1923 at Holyoke, Colo., and to this union 11 children were born, all of whom survive. Eight sons and five daughters-in-law: Allen and wife, Pat, Larry and wife, Judy, Englewood, Colo.; Martin and wife, Catherine, Wauneta; Howard at home, Lourn and wife, Julie, San Francisco, Calif.; Richard and wife, Ruby, Black Hawk, South Dakota; Melvin, Westminster, Colo.; Keith in the U.S. Army, Fort Riley, Kansas.; three daughters and sons-in-law: Reneta Hallett and husband, John, Jean Herbert and husband, Irvin, of Imperial, and Joyce Tweedy and husband, Jim, Las Animas, Colo. Eighteen grandchildren, seven step grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Besides the immediate family, he leaves to mourn his passing three sisters: Iva Troxel, Manhattan Beach, Calif., Ollie O'Neil, Wauneta, Pearl Fletcher, Imperial; several nieces, nephews, as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Mary, September 28, 1957, one grandson, Robert Hallett, one great granddaughter, Doris Faye Scarrow, his parents and two brothers. Ed suffered a heart attack in 1957 and since then had been in failing health. He was devoted to his children and grandchildren who were a real joy to his life. He loved to fish and he spent a lot of his last few years, fishing with his family and working around the yard with his grandchildren. He was a man with a congenial nature, always ready to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and friends and will be missed greatly by all who knew him. * * * * * * And so at rest is what we sometimes say Of that dear one who gently slipped away; But he has simply vanished from the earth To find elsewhere a new and glorious birth; Lost to our sight a tearful while, His tender voice, his quick and eager smile. But surely as the faithful, rising sun Returns to bless our eyes, so will this one. Be waiting when the dawn of dawns appears, So put away your sorrow and your tears, And know that you will see him face to face, Whose light already shines in that far place. * * * * * * * * * * * * * Funeral services were held Thursday, July 1, 1965 at The Methodist Church, in Imperial. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Bauerle sang the following numbers: "In The Sweet Bye and Bye" and "Abide With Me", accompanied by Mrs. Willard Rouze, organist. Pallbearers were Wilfred O'Neil, Donald Maucher, Fred Maucher, Wayne Berry, Elbert Berry and Claude McMinn. Rev. Kenneth W. Zuercher, pastor of the Berean Fundamental Church, officiated with Rev. Otto A. Quaife assisting, pastor of the Methodist Church in Imperial. Interment was at Mount Hope Cemetery with Luhrs & Reynolds in charge.
