Born July 1, 1922, in Sang Run, he was the son of the late Parker and Mary Louise (Lytle) DeWitt . He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Etta (Clary) DeWitt , Oct. 12, 2004; and two sisters, Jane Burdette and Suzanne Frazee. Mr. DeWitt was retired from Bethlehem Steel, Sparrow's Point, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theatre. He is survived by his daughter, Robin R. Bowman and husband, Kenneth, Accident; one brother, Carl Jack DeWitt , Friendsville; two grandchildren, Tracy Bowman and husband, Jason Knotts, and Tyler Bowman; and one great-granddaughter, Carmen Knotts. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 26722 Garrett Highway, Accident (McHenry), on Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Daymond Schmuck officiating. Interment will be in the Sang Run Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Northern Garrett County Rescue Squad. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.newmanfuneralhomes.com.
