Description	:	Harry J Gossen of Marion went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 25th, 2020 at the Tieszen Memorial Home in Marion, SD at the age of 93. Harry was born May 1st, 1926 to John J & Anna Gossen. He graduated from the Dolton country school which was the last class to graduate before moving to Marion school district. Read More	Harry J Gossen of Marion went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 25th, 2020 at the Tieszen Memorial Home in Marion, SD at the age of 93. Harry was born May 1st, 1926 to John J & Anna Gossen. He graduated from the Dolton country school which was the last class to graduate before moving to Marion school district. He accepted Christ as his savior in his youth and was baptized at the Bethesda Church as a teenager and rebaptized as an adult at the First Church of God. He was united in marriage to Elma Arbeiter on April 22nd, 1949. They resided south of Marion farming until retirement. He loved farming and would tell family stories of picking corn in the cold South Dakota temps by hand for his father. Thankfully, tractors and technology have greatly improved farming techniques about which he enjoyed talking to his grandson, Kyle. Harry served in the U.S. Marines in 1952-1954 stationed in southern California during the Korean War. He was also a lifelong member of the American Legion Post #235. Church and church family were very important to Harry. He taught Jr High Sunday School, Chairmen of the board when the country church moved to town and many years as an usher. Prayer was very important at mealtimes and often told his grandkids he prayed for them daily. Hobbies included: driving the Marion School bus for 13 years, during the winter month’s woodworking on projects Grandma would find in a magazine, until his vision began to deteriorate. He always looked forward to visits and outings with the grandkids whom he adored and they adored him. Grateful for having shared his life is his daughter Gerry (Darrell) Stanyard (Florida), son Raymond (Beverly) Gossen (Freeman, SD). Grand- son Kyle (April) Gossen (Marion, SD), Granddaughter Kayla (Travis) Witt (Marion, SD). Sister Darleen Ortman (Marion, SD). Great Grandchildren Rylie, Kylie & Brody Gossen, Emily, Adalynn & Kaydence Witt. Along with many friends, nieces, nephews, cousins & in-laws. Preceded in death by his wife, Elma Gossen, parents, John J & Anna Gossen, siblings, Ed Gossen & Luella Hofer & sister-in-law Della Dibley. A celebration of life was held at the First Church of God in Marion on March 2, with pastor Scott Dent officiating and Iva Becker as pianist. Pallbearers were David Dibley, Charles Arbeiter, Randy Constant, Steve Albrecht, Wendell Weeldreyer and Allen Boese. Interment was in the First Church of God Cemetery.
