He was employed by the city of Miller until 1961 when he was appointed state deputy fire marshal, the position he held at the time of his death. He married Doris Gaudig, Sept. 16, 1939, at Miller. He had been a member of the Miller volunteer fire department since 1931. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his widow; one sister, Mrs. Eliza Leckner, Miller; one brother, George, Rapid City; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
