Harry Strickland Jr 80, of Stanton, Iowa died September 17, 2004, at the Good Samaritan Center in Villisca, Iowa, where he had been a resident since September 30, 2003. He was born March 4, 1924, in Page County, Ia, on the family farm, the son of Harry A. Strickland and Rose (Kelley) Strickland. Harry married Charlotte Lantz, April 6, 1945, at the Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton, Ia. To this union four children were born: Julie, Joel, Janean and Joan. Harry enjoyed farming, coon hunting, playing cards and attending the car races. He also enjoyed his time at the Villisca Elevator drinking a Pepsi and telling funny stores. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lloyd Strickland and wife Helen, brothers-in-law, Malcom (Bus) Victor, Allan Levine and Levi Lantz. He is survived by his wife of the home, children: Julie Newman and husband John of Stanton, Ia, Joel Strickland of Stanton, Ia, Janean Hart and husband Rod of Stanton, Ia and Joan Staples and husband Richard of Corning, Ia. Eleven grandchildren, Ingrid (Gong-Gong) Newman and husband Matthew Perkins of Emerson, Ia; Andrw (Drewser) Newman of West Des Moines, Ia; Kyle (Kyser) Newman of Ames, Ia; Ashley (Hilma) Strickland & finace John McDonald of Treynor, Ia; Aubrey (Fed) Strickland of Ames, Ia; Austin (Slug) Strickland of Stanton, Ia; Jason (Rosco) Hart and wife Katie of Stanton, Ia; Ryan (Willie) Hart of Ames, Ia; Jamie (Potzie 1 ) Fast Noakes and husband Nathan of Davenport, Ia; Erica (Potzie 2) Fast Borja and husband Dennis of Davenport, Ia; and one step grandson Mike Staples of Creston, Ia. Two great grandchildren: Isabelle Perkins and Mason Perkins of Emerson, Ia. Sisters Florence (Sis) Victor of Villisca, Ia, and Marjorie Nelson and husband Ivan of Red Oak, Ia. Sisters-in-law Octavia Levine of Stanton, Ia and Korine Finley of Red Oak, Ia and Dorothy Honett of Grafton, Wi.
