Harry was born on November 26, 1924 in Hemingway, SC, he was a son of the late Rev. Charles Dewey Huggins, Sr. and the late Rena Melvina Cox Huggins. He was predeceased by his siblings, CD Huggins, Francis Huggins Ridgill, Jimmy Huggins, Tom Huggins, Catherine Fleming, and Dick Huggins. Harry was a US Army Veteran of WWII having served in New Guinea and Australia. He was also a member of the Ed Hill American Legion Post # 84 in Hemingway. He was a member of the Hemingway First Baptist Church, a member of the choir, Youth Sunday School Teacher, and Deacon. He was owner and operator of Harry's Sales and Service, his slogan was "Don't Tarry Call Harry". He served the Town of Hemingway as Director of the Public Works Department, and was a member of the Hemingway Fire Department for over 80 years. He was a Plumbing Instructor for Williamsburg Technical College, as well as the Hemingway Vocational Center.
