Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman is caring for the family. -Lewiston Morning Tribune, Lewiston, Idaho-May 26, 2012 Harvey Jacobs, 86, a lifelong Uniontown resident, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012, at home with his family by his side. He was a hard-working, honest and compassionate man who taught his children and grandchildren these values through his actions. Harvey was born in Eugene, Ore., June 6, 1925, to George and Helen (Schoffen) Jacobs. The family resided in Uniontown, where he attended school. He graduated from Uniontown High School in 1943, a member of the last graduating class. Harvey enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the European Theater. He was a member of the Big Red One infantry unit. Among his many military honors and awards, he received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for his bravery during the Battle of the Bulge. Following his honorable discharge, Harvey returned to Uniontown. He attended Washington State University and received his bachelor's degree in 1951. On Sept. 2 of the same year, Harvey married Anna Marie Ricard in Uniontown. He then began his farming career on the Jacobs Farm, where he spent his entire life. Harvey was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, was a past Commander of the Uniontown American Legion Post No. 214, and served as president of the Uniontown Co-Op. Harvey was also a member of the Lewiston Golf and Country Club, the Lewiston Elks Lodge, the WSU Alumni Association and was an honorary member of the ISU Alumni Association. Harvey loved sports and played golf three times a week. He coached youth baseball and basketball and enjoyed the countless sporting events he attended over the years to watch his children and grandchildren. Harvey's family was the most important thing to him. He especially loved spending time with them through the years on the family farm. He is survived by Annie, his loving wife of 60 years; his sons, Jeff and his wife Nancy, Barney Jacobs; daughters Jackie Jacobs, Jill Pacheco and her husband Dennis, Jarma Jacobs; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his two brothers, Bob and Richard Jacobs, and his grandson, Adam Cook. The Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 31, 2012, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Uniontown. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, following the Rosary. Interment with military honors will take place following the Mass at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman is caring for the family.
