Description	:	Harvey D. "Steve" Gronemeyer, 80 Beatrice, died Friday afternoon May 26, 2006 at the Beatrice Manor Care Center. He was born on November 3, 1925 at rural Plymouth and attended District 75, St. Paul's Lutheran School and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1943. He started farming in 1947 on the family farm. Read More	Harvey D. "Steve" Gronemeyer, 80 Beatrice, died Friday afternoon May 26, 2006 at the Beatrice Manor Care Center. He was born on November 3, 1925 at rural Plymouth and attended District 75, St. Paul's Lutheran School and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1943. He started farming in 1947 on the family farm. He served in the army from 1953-1955 in the Korean Conflict with the 235th Artillery Forward Observation Battalion on the Norman Beach Head near the China border, attaining the rank of Staff Sargent. He was married to Zena Bingelli on July 18, 1964 at St. John Lutheran Church, Beatrice. After being discharged from the service in 1955 he returned to farming until 1957. He then moved to Beatrice and was employed at Tote Systems, Dempsters and later worked for the Farmers Coop Elevator in Plymouth, the Farmers Union Coop of Beatrice for 26 years and Behrens Construction for eight years. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church at Beatrice, a past member of Schopp-Ewing Nispel Post 243 of Plymouth, a member of American Legion Post 27, VFW Post 1077, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No 531 all of Beatrice . His hobbies included visiting with family members, his retired friends, and playing checkers with special friend, Les. Survivors: brother, Eldred Gronemeyer, and wife, Aleatha of Plymouth; son-in-law, Marvin Walker and wife, Ann of Kearney; grandson, Marc Walker, now serving his country in Iraq and wife, Amy; granddaughter, Kim Jaros and husband Shayne, Grand Island; great-grandchildren, Caitlin and William Walker of Shawnee, KS, Morgan and Grant Jaros, Grand Island, NE; five nephews and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zena (Bingelli) Gronemeyer, step-daughter, Louise (Bingelli) Walker; parents, William and Ida (Koch) Gronemeyer; brother, Milbert Gronemeyer, Orvel Gronemeyer and wife Esther; sister, Elaine and husband, Herbert Zimmerman. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Beatrice. Family prayer service will be held at 12:45 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor David P. Kramer and Pastor Joann K. Kramer. Visitation: Tuesday, May 30, 2006 from 8:00 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, one hour at the church prior to the service. Burial will be at Home City Cemetery, Home, KS. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Bitting-Norman Post 27, Beatrice.
