Walters was born at Wadena, Iowa, June 4, 1885, and passed away from this life at his home Dec. 8, 1917, aged 62 years, 6 months and 5 days. He was the son of Martin and Susan Walters, who have passed on before to their final rest. Nearly all his life was passed near Wadena. Walters was born at Wadena, Iowa, June 4, 1885, and passed away from this life at his home Dec. 8, 1917, aged 62 years, 6 months and 5 days. He was the son of Martin and Susan Walters, who have passed on before to their final rest. Nearly all his life was passed near Wadena. He lived a number of years on his farm, having recently moved to his home in town. His boyhood days were spent at the parental home, one mile north of Wadena. He acquired a fair education at the Wadena school, as a preparation for his busy life. He married Miss Nora Davis, March 27, 1877. They were parents to a large family. His companion and children survive him except one daughter, who passed away before the age of adult years. Besides his family he leaves many relatives who mourn his departure, but not as those who have no hope, as he left an evidence of being a disciple of Christ whom he recognized as his Saviour previous to his departure from this life. He was a faithful and kind father, a diligent Bible student, and is recognized as a good man by his neighbors. His friends may look forward to the time when they shall meet again in the resurrection morning, to be blest and owned by the Saviour in the mansion he has prepared for those who confessed to Him in this life, to be with him forever in the regions of the Great Beyond. All of his children except Mrs. Pearl Weber of Detroit, Michigan, and one son, who is in the army, were present at the funeral services that were conducted at Union church, Wednesday at 10 a.m. by Rev. W. Mitchell. The choir rendered excellent music before the service. The remains were taken to Taylorsville cemetery for the final rest until the resurrection morning. NOTE The Iowa County Death Records 1880-1992 indicate the spelling of his first name to be "Harvey" although the obit has it spelled "Harvy" and the date of death as December 9, 1917 whereas the obit has December 8, 1917.
