Harvey died November 29, 1973 at the young age of 61. He was a truck driver in his adult life and along with his wife Elva Hammond, had a trucking firm, Night Owl Transfer, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Trucking took Harvey to all part of the United States carrying goods and freight. He was a collector of writing pens and had a vast collection of which he was very proud. To the marriage of Harvey and Elva was born one daughter. Harvey's daughter, Ruby, said that they had four other children who were lost at full term, but little is known about them.
