Source NS Historical Vital Statistics. Obit of Harvey J. Beck 1947 On Thursday morning, February 27 th, Harvey Joshua Beck passed into eternal life, at the age of 79 years and 24 days. On February 10, 1944, Mr. Beck suffered a paralytic stroke, and was confined to his home continually for a period of more than three years. His patience in suffering, his cheery smile and greeting, and his humble submission to his infirmity were visible signs of his faith in His Lord. He was a life-long member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, and was a faithful attendant at all church services until the time of his illness. When he could no longer attend church services he looked forward eagerly to the bedside administrations of his pastor. He was laid to rest on Saturday afternoon, when a large number of relatives and friends gathered at the church to pay their last respects. His pastor, Rev. C.L.Monk, spoke from Jeremiah 18: 1-6 and 31:16. Hymns were "It Is Not Death to Die." "O, For A Faith That Will Not Shrink," and "Peace, Perfect Peace." Pall-bearers were Jabez Mader, LeRoy Wagner, Clarence Conrad, and Brunswick Rhodenizer. He is survived by his wife, Ada; five daughters and two sons, all of whom were present at the funeral. They are Flossie (Mrs. Clyde Wentzell), West Northfield; Loretta (Mrs. Joshua Crouse), Midville Branch; Bernice (Mrs. Carman Meisner), New Germany; Lorna (Mrs. Harry Zinck), Bridgewater; Helen (Mrs. Wallace Naas), Upper Branch; Willie of Matheson, Ontario; and Moyle of Kennetcook, Hants County.
