Description	:	Harvey Gant was born February 27, 1836 at Kaskaskia, IL., but later moved with his parents to Springfield. He came to Republic county, Kansas, in 1870, where he resided until his death which occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dory Davis in this city, May 1. He became a member of the Universalist church before coming to Kansas. He was married in 1850 to Rachel Stype. Seven children were born to them, three sons and four daughters, all living at present. Mr. Gant has resided at the Davis home for several years. The funeral services were held at the residence and conducted by Rev. Pierce of the M. E. church last Friday, after which the body was laid to rest in the Courtland cemetery. ∼ Harvey Gant died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dory Davis, in this city, Wednesday evening, after a very short illness. Harvey Gant was born February 27, 1836 at Kaskaskia, IL., where he lived for a time and then with his parents moved to Springfield. In 1870 he removed to Republic County, Kansas, and resided in this township until his death as above stated. He was united in marriage to Rachel Stype in 1850, and to this union 7 children were born 3 sons and 4 daughters, all of whom survive him. His home has been with his daughter, Mrs. Dory Davis, and in the infirmities of his later years he has received every care that filial affection could afford him. Funeral services will be held at the opera house, Friday afternoon, at 2 o'clock.
