She has a brother living near Munden. She is a comparatively young woman and it is hoped that she will may be completely cured in time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Letter from Osawatomie State Hospital May 6, 1985 Eva Gant was admitted to this hospital April 25, 1906, and expired August 10, 1960. A sister, Laura Cardwell, Monitou, Oklahoma, and a niece of Republic, Kansas were listed as relatives. A letter to the sister returned April 1960, marked as deceased. When Mrs. Gant expired, the niece, Mrs. Joe Kelley of Republic, Kansas, was notified and asked for burial instructions. The niece requested burial at the hospital and was told, proper disposition by law (at that time) of unclaimed bodies, was release to the Kansas State University Medical School, Lawrence, Kansas. Mrs. Kelley authorized the hospital to release the body to the Medical School and on August 12, 1960, Birchard's Funeral Home of Osawatomie, Kansas, took her body to the Department of Anatomy, Lawrence, Kansas. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After the studies have been completed, the remains are individually cremated. Cremains will be interred together in a shared grave at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence, Kansas. The gravesite is marked with a simple stone and affixed bronze plaque marked "KUMC" and the year of the burial. The cemetery does not allow individual markers.
