"Russ" Newcomm, who passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 18, 1989. He was 78 years old. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Christian Church in Coon Rapids. Russ Newcomm was born at his home in Coon Rapids on November 21, 1910. He was the only son of J.A. "Jake" and Rose Newcomm, both of whom preceded him in death. Russ was a lifelong resident of Coon Rapids. He was graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1930. In 1933 he married the former Madeline Holliday and through the years was engaged in various business and farming enterprises. He remained active despite the fact that he was stricken with leukemia in 1986. In his later years Russ was elected Deacon in the First Christian Church and faithfully served in that and other capacities. Russ leaves many friends, all of whom rallied to his support throughout his protracted illness. He loved his home, his community, and its people. He was a helpful witness and bold encourager to many through his faith in God. Surviving Russ are his two sons, Tom and Phil, of Miami, Fl; grandchildren, Phillip and Gregory Newcomm of Miami, Fl., Kristie Coughenour, Nancy Newcomm and Tommy Newcomm of Albuquerque, N.M and Daniel Newcomm of Miami, Fl.; great-grandchildren Jason and Timmy Coughenour, Shawn Newcomm and Victoria Newcomm, all of Albuquerque, N.M.
