HARWOOD EDWARD FRAZIER was born April 28, 1907 in Missouri Valley, IA, and died March 03, 1956 in Hawarden, Sioux, IA. He married HORTENSE ALICE KVOLS December 1930 in Papillion, NE. She was born 1909 in Nebraska, and died March 1955 in Methodist Hospital, Sioux City, IA. Mr. Frazier was returning home from the hospital where he had taken a patient early that afternoon. Riding with him when he died were his father-in-law; Morris Kvols, and Sam Hismith who succeeded in stopping the vehicle. In Feb 1949 Harwood Frazier bought the Ross Funeral Home of Sioux City and renamed it the Frazier Funeral Home. He graduated from the College of Mortuary Science at Chicago in 1931. He then worked in Omaha later moving to SIoux City where he worked Rutledge Funeral home. Later he was employed at the Luken Funeral home in Le Mars after which he again returned to Sioux City where he remained with the O'Toole-Gunn Funeral home for 10 years, before coming to Hawarden. He was a member of the Iowa Funeal Directors association, past president of the Rotary club, Dale Lodge AF and AM the Chamber of Commerce, Lodge 261 of 0dd Fellows and the Methodist church for which he acted in the capacity of Secretary of the Official Board and Quarterly conference. He was preceeded in death by his wife, who died March 15, 1956, his father, Ed Frazier, who died at Missouri Valley In 1953 and a brother Wilbur who died May 8, 1955, at Missouri Valley. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church, Rev, S. A. Kruschwitz officiating. Miss Alma Rexwinkle was the organist. A quartet composed of, Mrs. D. J. Dewis, Mrs. M. 0, Larson, E. Slife, jr. and B. N. Brown sang "Living for Jesus" and "Beyond the Sunset." Casket bearers were York Johnson, Sam Highsmith, Ole Van Gore, Clarence Larson, Dave Gearhart and John Koob. Internment was at Grace Hill cemetery, Harley Lewison of Akron was among severaI funeral directors in charge of arrangements. Business places of Hawarden were closed for, one hour, during funeral services Tuesday afternoon. Survivors include two son Charles and Martin of Hawarden, his mother, Mrs, Myrtle Frazier of Hawarden, and a brother, Stoy of Sioux Falls. Relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were Mrs. Wilbur Frazier, Don and Jim. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Antrim, Mrs. Bob Withim and Mr. and Mrs. Dearyl Friend of Missouri Valley.
