Description	:	Hattie Jeanette Brockett, was the daughter of William Henry Brockett (1838-1908) and Sarah Ellen Hall (Brockett) (1846-1935). She was married to George Ankenbauer at her father's home in Carroll, Iowa on Aug 31, 1884. George and Hattie resided at Dedham, Iowa and then moved to Laurens, Iowa. They were one of several families affiliated with the Church of the brethren joined the homestead immigration to the Kenmare, North Dakota area. Read More	Hattie Jeanette Brockett, was the daughter of William Henry Brockett (1838-1908) and Sarah Ellen Hall (Brockett) (1846-1935). She was married to George Ankenbauer at her father's home in Carroll, Iowa on Aug 31, 1884. George and Hattie resided at Dedham, Iowa and then moved to Laurens, Iowa. They were one of several families affiliated with the Church of the brethren joined the homestead immigration to the Kenmare, North Dakota area. On September 7, 1896 George made is homestead entry at the land office in Minot, North Dakota. The required filing fee was $14.00 for 160 acres in Elmdale Township. This was about 5 miles west of Kenmare. Their first established residence was on February 20, 1899 their first home was a 23' x 16' sod house which was not an unusual sight on the North Dakota prairies. A short time later they build a wood frame house (16' x 26' x 12) where the last children were born. By 1909 George and his sons farmed over 1,200 acres of land with horses; they were a hard-working family. Hattie gave birth to 11 children with 8 of them living into adulthood, the living were five sons and three daughters. Earl, A D, Milford, Esther, Tessie, Orin, Tamie, Melvin and the other three were 2 babies Oscar and Gertrude and 3 year old Hazel. George and Hattie celebrated their 67 wedding anniversary in Aug. of 1951 George died at age 92, on November 25, 1951. Hattie died at the age of 85, on Jan 13,1953, their are buried in the Lakeview cemetery at Kenmare North Dakota.
