CARLOW Death came this morning to a well known Fairfield resident She is Mrs. Hattie Carlow, 76, who passed away at her home, 107 N. Sixth street, after a serious illness of about a month. Her death came at 8:30 a.m. Last rites will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Weston Behner funeral home with Rev. G. J. Dingman in charge. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Bloomfield. Hattie Carlow was born April 25, 1873, at Bloomfield, the daughter of the late John and Etta Maines (sic. a/k/a Rains) Snoddy. She was united in marriage to H. W. Carlow on January 1, 1896, who preceded her in death on February 18, 1941. Mrs. Carlow had been a resident of Fairfield for 36 years, having moved her in October, 1913. She was a member of the Free Methodist church. She is survived by three daughters: Hazel Carlow, Mrs. Fay Champ and Mrs. John Champ, all of Fairfield. She is also survived by one sister and six brothers, Mrs. Effie Worrell, Ottumwa; Bernie Snoddy, Ottumwa; Oda Snoddy, El Monte, California; Frank Snoddy, Fairfield; Tom Snoddy, Pleasant Plain; Roy Snoddy, Washington state, and William Snoddy, Oskaloosa. Mrs. Snoddy was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother.
