Funeral services at First Presbyterian Church, in Marshalltown. Interment at the Iowa Brethren Church Cemetery in rural Marshalltown. Hazel was born on November 2, 1927. She was the second daughter of Thomas and Martha Hodges McWilliams. She attended her first three school years in Clemons. In 1936 her parents moved to their farm near Conrad. Read More	Hazel Alice Nason, 85, of Marshalltown, Iowa, died on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown. Funeral services at First Presbyterian Church, in Marshalltown. Interment at the Iowa Brethren Church Cemetery in rural Marshalltown. Hazel was born on November 2, 1927. She was the second daughter of Thomas and Martha Hodges McWilliams. She attended her first three school years in Clemons. In 1936 her parents moved to their farm near Conrad. She graduated from Conrad High School, Class of 1945. She married Vernon Nason on July 24, 1949. She worked in the offices of Montgomery Ward Retail Stores for 15 years. In 1979 she and her husband purchased Dicks Auto Supply and they worked together until Vernon's serious illness in 1996. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church where she sang in the chancel choir, taught Sunday school, directed primary choir and served two terms as deacon. She was a lifetime member of the Iowa Historical Society. Hazel will be remembered as a good friend, a wonderful mother and a goofy grandmother. She was an inspiration to all with her smiles, laughter, and love. Hazel is survived by her children Cindy (Mark) Lindstrom of Newton, and Cary (Chris) Nason of Marshalltown; grandchildren Chad Greenwood of Gilbert, Arizona, Lindsey Greenwood of Des Moines, Iowa, and Catherine and Cassie Nason of Marshalltown; two sisters, Velma Sheller of Marshalltown, and Marilyn (Richard) Culley of West Minster, California; one brother Robert McWilliams of Conrad; brother-in-law Carrol (Virginia) Nason of Marshalltown; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Vernon; her brother Wilbur McWilliams; her sister-in-law Bertha McWilliams; brother-in-law Steven Nason; and sisters-in law Doris Helmer and Jane Yettke; and a nephew James Katzer.
