Description	:	HAZEL BEA MATHENY, 85, a lifelong resident of Center Point, died Thursday, February 8, 2001, at People's Memorial Hospital, Independence, following a long illness. Hazel was born November 29, 1915, the daughter of Clarence and Olive Augustine Hand, in rural Center Point. On October 8, 1936 she was united in marriage to Dale Matheny at Center Point. Together they owned and operated the 150 Gulf Stop in Center Point for 23 years. Read More	HAZEL BEA MATHENY, 85, a lifelong resident of Center Point, died Thursday, February 8, 2001, at People's Memorial Hospital, Independence, following a long illness. Hazel was born November 29, 1915, the daughter of Clarence and Olive Augustine Hand, in rural Center Point. On October 8, 1936 she was united in marriage to Dale Matheny at Center Point. Hazel was a member of the Church of Christ in Toddville, the American Legion Auxillary of Center Point and the Order of Eastern Star. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Dale, a daughter, Jeanette Haars of Bull Shoals, Arkansas; a son, Douglas Matheny of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Philip Hand and wife Berniece of Center Point; a sister, Donna Mae Stephenson and husband Harold of Center Point; a son-in-law, Gerald Houts and wife Elaine of Alburnett; ten grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daugher, Bernita Houts; and a brother Leo. SERVICES: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2001, at Murdoch Funeral Home, Center Point, Iowa. Conducted by: David Graham. Bearers: Mike Matheny, Clifton Haars, Brett Houts, Tom Mack and Darren Hirl. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point, Iowa.
