A celebration of Hazel's life was held on Monday August 19th at Sanders Funeral Home. The reverend David Groe of the Immanuel Lutheran Church officiated and the eulogy was written and delivered by her granddaughter, Krista. She was interned at Sunset Memorial next to her loving parents Chris and Mathilda Lovald. A graduate of Eureka High School she attended business school and upon graduation worked for the Eureka Mayor until she married in 1942. During World War II she resided in Santa Rosa, Ca and returned to Eureka when her family founded Bay Tank and Boiler Works. She dedicated her life to friends and family; raising her daughters, managing her home, caring for parents and extended family members, and enjoying life with friends. Her husband remembers a loving lifetime partner. Her friends remember a devoted confidant. Her daughters remember a mother who was a role model, and the founder of family traditions. Her grandchildren remember the "Mimi" who had the ability to easily span generations. Times-Standard (Eureka, CA) - August 21, 2002
