Hazel and Lloyd Wallace Platt, Sr. were married August 13, 1946 by the Probate Judge in Dillon County, South Carolina. They had one son. 1--Lloyd Wallace, Jr. [1947-????] Hazel was born in the Kemper Community in Dillon County, South Carolina. She joined the Kentyre Presbyterian Church November 12, 1922. Hazel was a registered nurse and lived many years in Mullins, South Carolina. For years she was confined to a wheelchair, and then the time came when she had to leave home and go into Sunny Acres nursing home in Fork, South Carolina. Hazel also had diabetes. Hazel died at the Marion County Medical Center in Marion County, South Carolina. OBITUARY: MULLINS - Mrs. Hazel Eula McDaniel Platt, 89, Mullins, died Monday, October 13, 2003 in Marion County Medical Center. Born in Dillon County, she was a daughter of the late Jim Wesley and Mattie Herring McDaniel. She was the widow of Lloyd W. Platt, Sr. She was a registered nurse and a graduate of Mullins Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of Mullins Presbyterian Church and the Ladies Bible Class. She was past vice-president, secretary and treasurer of the young adult class and chairman for women of the church for 25 years. Visitation was held from 1:30 to 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, October 15, 2003, at Mullins Presbyterian Church. Funeral services were held at 2:30 P.M. on Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at Mullins Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jason Brewer and the Rev. George Ganey officiating. Burial was held in Cedardale Cemetery. Mrs. Platt is survived by one son and his wife, Lloyd W. Platt, Jr. and Sandra Platt of Columbia; one granddaughter, Marie Platt Harris of Newberry; two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Meares Funeral Home of Mullins was serving the family of Mrs. Platt. The picture of Hazel has been shared with us by Linda Christenburg Moody Brown. We still do not have a picture of her headstone.
