Hazel was born on January 31, 1910, to Edward and Amanda (Paulson) Gunderson in Geddes, SD. She graduated from Geddes High School in 1929. On December 10, 1929 she united in marriage to Ed Rommen in Lake Andes, SD. Hazel was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Platte where she taught Sunday School for many years and was a charter member of the Good Will Circle, holding several offices. Read More	Hazel (Gunderson) Rommen, 101 of Platte, SD, passed away Monday, July 25, 2011, at the Platte Care Center. Hazel was born on January 31, 1910, to Edward and Amanda (Paulson) Gunderson in Geddes, SD. She graduated from Geddes High School in 1929. On December 10, 1929 she united in marriage to Ed Rommen in Lake Andes, SD. Hazel was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Platte where she taught Sunday School for many years and was a charter member of the Good Will Circle, holding several offices. She enjoyed gardening, raising chickens, crochet, and embroidery. She took pride in her baking, winning trophies at the Midwinter Fair for her angel food cakes. Hazel loved caring for her family and grandkids and also entertaining--welcoming visitors into her home whenever she got the chance. Grateful for having shared in Hazel's life are her three children, James Rommen and wife, June of Geddes, SD, Audrey Mason and husband, Ken of Platte, SD, and Morris Rommen and wife, Sharon of Platte, SD; ten grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Edward (April 1987); a grandson; her parents; two sisters, and three brothers. Funeral Services will be Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Platte. A Committal Service will follow at Bloomington Cemetery, rural Platte. Visitation will be held Friday, July 29, 2011, at Mount Funeral Home in Platte with a Prayer Service. Memorials in Hazel's honor may be directed to the Bloomington Cemetery.
